Flag Football Recap: Thomas Jefferson Takes a Loss

Thomas Jefferson fell victim to Chaparral and their airtight defense on Monday. They were outmatched by the Wolverines and fell 33-0. Having soared to a lofty 40 points in the game before, the Spartans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Izzy Duran threw for 29 yards on three of 17 attempts. Marin Herbst was her top target, picking up 29 receiving yards.

Chaparral's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zoey Fink led the charge by throwing for 199 yards and four touchdowns while completing 84.6% of her passes. The dominant performance also gave Fink a new career-high in passer rating (164.3). Chaparral's leading receiver Salem Sherman was Fink's top target yet again, picking up 65 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Thomas Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Chaparral, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1.

Thomas Jefferson wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 12-6 defeat against Bruce Randolph on the 25th. As for Chaparral, they have also already played their next game, a 32-12 win against Rock Canyon on the 27th.
