Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Lexington

Lexington had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Camden Central Lions. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Lauren Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lexington's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emma Grice, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Grice also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another was Carly Williams, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Lexington hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

Lexington now has a winning record of 3-2.

We've got a battle between Tigers coming up. As for Camden Central, they will challenge Riverside at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
