Soccer Game Preview: Swansboro vs. Union Pines

The Swansboro Pirates will head out to square off against the Union Pines Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Swansboro's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Swansboro is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Southern Lee, sneaking past 2-1. The result kept Swansboro happy, as they haven't lost a game since April 11th.

Addison Davis and Chloe Johnson scored both of Swansboro's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Meanwhile, Union Pines had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 goals) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 8-0 victory. Union Pines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by three goals or more this season.

Union Pines pushed their record up to 18-3-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 60 goals over those 11 games. As for Swansboro, their win bumped their record up to 10-3-8.

Swansboro took their victory against Union Pines in their previous matchup back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 5-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
