Basketball Recap: Piper Takes a Loss

Piper was the 57-55 winner over West when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Piper Pirates were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 59-58 to the West Chargers. The loss was the Pirates' first of the season.

Despite the loss, Piper still got an impressive performance from PJ Moore, who went 8 of 16 en route to 18 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cooper Crawford, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Piper smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Piper's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-1. As for West, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Piper wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 78-44 victory against Leavenworth on the 20th. As for West, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 0-0 draw against Shawnee Heights on the 20th.
