Softball Game Preview: La Vega Pirates vs. West Trojans

The La Vega Pirates will venture away from home to take on the West Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. La Vega has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Friday just wasn't the day for La Vega's offense. They lost 18-0 to Clifton on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Pirates' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, West unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against Robinson, falling 12-2. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Trojans couldn't push the score so high this time.

West saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keegan Mayhue, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Kyla Shoppach also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

West's loss dropped their record down to 7-10-1. As for La Vega, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
