Football Game Preview: Pantego Christian Panthers vs. Lake Country Christian Eagles

The Pantego Christian Panthers will square off against the Lake Country Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pantego Christian has seven straight wins, Lake Country Christian has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Pantego Christian is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Trinity Christian: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Panthers blew the Eagles out of the water with a 56-7 final score. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won six matchups by 25 points or more so far this season.

Hayes Young had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 180 yards and a pair of TDs on only five carries, while also throwing for 268 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes. His longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards. Brady Reynolds was Young's top target, picking up 78 receiving yards and two scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pantego Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 297 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 188 rushing yards in six consecutive games.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Friday. Lake Country Christian had to suffer through a 65-19 loss at the hands of Lubbock Christian. Lake Country Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-12.

Lake Country Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Pantego Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
