Flag Football Game Preview: Hart Hawks vs. Royal Highlanders

The Hart Hawks will face off against the Royal Highlanders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Royal took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Hart, who comes in off a win.

On Wednesday, Hart made easy work of Canyon and carried off a 32-6 victory. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Cowboys are ranked 623rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

A big part of Hart's win came down to the chemistry between Hannah Cook and her top target Natalie Williams. Cook threw for 238 yards and four TDs on only 17 passes while Williams picked up 118 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Those 118 receiving yards gave Williams a new career-high.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Hart's defense and their three sacks. Leading the way was Melodi Mendez with two. Another thorn in Canyon's side was Genesis Bray, who picked up a sack and made nine total tackles.

Meanwhile, Royal took a blow against Camarillo on Tuesday, falling 38-7. The Highlanders haven't had much luck with the Scorpions recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

The victory made it two in a row for Hart and bumps their season record up to 17-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 points in those games. As for Royal, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
