Softball Game Preview: Baltic Bulldogs vs. Chamberlain Cubs

The Baltic Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Chamberlain Cubs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Baltic barely beat Elkton/Lake Benton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over the Elks on Thursday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by ten runs or more this season.

Ellie Pickett was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Jordyn Wehde was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Baltic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Chamberlain, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They blew past Parker 17-7 on Tuesday.

Chamberlain got a massive performance out of Jovie Vandenbosch, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Vandenbosch is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emberly Randall, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Baltic's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-12. As for Chamberlain, their record now sits at 2-12.
