Basketball Recap: Butler County Comes Up Short

Butler County fought the good fight in their overtime match against Todd County Central on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Todd County Central Rebels by a score of 71-69. The defeat continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now lost three in a row.

Todd County Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was JaMya Kay out in front who went 6 of 15 on her way to 16 points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Kay a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Chloe Collins, who posted 12 points and six assists.

Butler County's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Todd County Central, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Butler County will venture away from home to face off against Grayson County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Todd County Central, they will head out on the road to square off against Franklin-Simpson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Franklin-Simpson has won five straight at home, while Todd County Central won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
