Basketball Recap: Ursuline Academy Lions vs. West Clermont Wolves
If the Ursuline Academy Lions were riding high off their 44-22 takedown of the Clermont Northeastern Rockets last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Ursuline Academy ended up on the wrong side of a rough 41-21 walloping at the hands of the Wolves on Monday. While losing is never fun, Ursuline Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 434th, while the Wolves are ranked 33rd).
West Clermont's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Natalie Collins, who scored seven points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Meagyn Riffle, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Ursuline Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for West Clermont, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ursuline Academy will face off against the Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bishop Fenwick comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for West Clermont, they will head out on the road to take on the Middies at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
