            Softball Recap: Elyria Pioneers vs. Avon Lake Shoremen        
        
		
        
        
            Elyria lost a heartbreaker to Avon Lake when they met  back in April of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again  on Thursday. The Pioneers lost  15-5 to the Shoremen. The Pioneers have struggled against the Shoremen recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Elyria got a good showing from  Keilee Taylor, who   pitched 2.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit.
 On the hitting side,  Jaelyn Green was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 2-for-3 with two  triples, two  runs,  and one  stolen base. Another player making a difference was  Morgan Palos, who  got on base  in three of her four plate appearances with one  home run and one  stolen base.
Elyria's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Avon Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elyria will venture away from home to  challenge North Ridgeville  at 4:45  p.m.  on Friday. The Pioneers will need to watch out since the Rangers have now posted at least ten  runs  in their last three matches. As for Avon Lake, they will head out to  square off against St. Joseph Academy  at 5:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Shoremen's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 8.4  runs per game this season.
