Baseball Game Preview: Garey Vikings vs. Sierra Vista Dons

For the second straight game, Garey will face off against Sierra Vista. The Vikings will be playing at home against the Dons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Garey came up short against Sierra Vista and fell 6-2.

For Sierra Vista's part, Raul Zelaya spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. Zelaya has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cesar Leon was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ethan Zepeda, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Sierra Vista was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Sierra Vista and bumps their season record up to 7-13. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Garey, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.
