Volleyball Game Preview: St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors vs. Serra Cavaliers

The St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors will face off against the Serra Cavaliers at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Serra will be coming in after a loss.

Last Tuesday, everything went St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy's way against Verbum Dei Jesuit as St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy made off with a 3-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy never let Verbum Dei Jesuit on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-8, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Serra unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 3-0 to Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary on Tuesday.

While Serra ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-17, 25-18.

St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy pushed their record up to 5-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Serra, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy took their win against Serra in their previous matchup back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 3-0. Does St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Serra turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
