Basketball Recap: Rising Sun Shiners vs. South Decatur Cougars
The Rising Sun Shiners pushed their score all the way to 58 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Decatur. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (56), Rising Sun still had to take the loss.
Rising Sun's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Morris, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Elliot, who scored 16 points.
Rising Sun dropped their record down to 5-13 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for South Decatur, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rising Sun will square off against the Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Southwestern's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matchups. South Decatur is on the road again on Friday and plays the Mohawks at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Waldron focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday.
