Basketball Game Preview: Abingdon Falcons vs. Central Wise Warriors

Abingdon hasn't had much luck against Central Wise recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Abingdon Falcons are taking a road trip to challenge the Central Wise Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Both are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Abingdon is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest win since December 12, 2024 on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 72-38 victory over Lee. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Generals are ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Central Wise came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Blue Devils as they made off with a 71-47 win. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 21 points or more this season.

Central Wise pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Abingdon, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.

Abingdon might still be hurting after the 74-53 loss they got from Central Wise in their previous matchup on January 2nd. Can Abingdon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
