            Softball Recap: Portales Rams vs. West Mesa Mustangs        
        
		
        
        
            After only one  run in their last  game, Portales made sure to put some  runs up on the board against West Mesa  on Saturday. Portales came out on top in a nail-biter against West Mesa, sneaking past  10-8.

  Addyson Mayberry and  Amaya Lujan did most of the damage at the plate:  Mayberry  scored three  runs and  stole three bases while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances, while  Lujan  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those  three  runs gave  Mayberry a new career-high.  Ruth Espinoza also deserves some recognition as  she  snagged her first  stolen base of the season.
Portales now  has a winning record of 4-3. As for West Mesa, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
 Portales didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  contest,  a  7-6  loss against Atrisco Heritage Academy on the 29th. As for West Mesa, they will be playing at home against Albuquerque  at 3:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. West Mesa's pitchers better be ready for this one: Albuquerque has averaged an impressive 9.9  runs per game this season.
