Basketball Recap: Rice Bulldogs vs. Kemp Yellowjackets

The Rice Bulldogs came tearing into Friday's matchup with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They really took it to Kemp for the full four quarters, racking up a 102-27 victory at home. Rice's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Saniya Burks continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a triple-double on 75 points, 19 rebounds, and 15 steals. That makes it 23 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Rice's points. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Nezar, who scored 17 points along with eight steals.

Rice pushed their record up to 19-4 with that victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Kemp, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Rice will head out on the road to face off against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Scurry-Rosser has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Kemp, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Malakoff presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Yellowjackets in Texas (the Tigers are ranked 103rd, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 1276th).
