The Barker Bulldogs will challenge the Perry Yellowjackets at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Barker put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Wilson 10-9. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Jackson Prynn made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ireland Brady was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Michael Kalynycz was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Perry made easy work of Caledonia-Mumford on Friday and carried off a 10-2 victory.
Like Barker, Perry also got a great game from a two-way player: Walker Briggs. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over seven innings pitched. Briggs was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Perry's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maximus Siewert, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Perry: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Beau Solcum, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Perry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The win got Perry back to even at 6-6. As for Barker, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Barker has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Perry struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
