Softball Recap: Monacan Takes a Loss

Monacan had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 4-9 to make it eight. They came up short against the Powhatan Indians, falling 16-0. Considering the last time the Chiefs couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

As for Powhatan, their record now sits at 9-6. They haven't had any issues with Monacan recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

For Powhatan's part, Mazie Harmon was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave Harmon a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Payton Murray, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Looking ahead, Monacan will challenge Cosby at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Chiefs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Powhatan, they will square off against Huguenot at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
