Softball Recap: Central Catholic Find Success

Central Catholic proved they can win big on Monday (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Our Lady of Mercy Monarchs 11-10.

Ella Schuberg made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Schuberg was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Morgan Price was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Coleman, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Central Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive matchups.

Central Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Our Lady of Mercy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Central Catholic will face off against Upper Sandusky at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Our Lady of Mercy, they will head out on the road to square off against Batavia at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games the Blue Devils have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
