Basketball Recap: Morrill Takes a Loss

Morrill extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-4. They were dealt a 60-15 loss at the hands of the Garden County Eagles. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-9.

Patrick Owens was Morrill's leading scorer, having posted five points. Ethan Lewis held things down on the boards with four rebounds.

As for Garden County, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 39 points or more this season.

Leading Garden County to victory were Lane Brenneman and Blake Dean. Brenneman went 8-for-9 to rack up 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Dean shot 67% from the field on his way to 13 points and four steals. Dean is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Kyan Kramer also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Morrill will take on Edgemont in a holiday battle at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Garden County, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 75-38 win against Crawford on the 13th.
