Softball Game Preview: The Villages Charter Buffalo vs. East Ridge Knights

The Villages Charter Buffalo will square off against the East Ridge Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Villages Charter's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so East Ridge's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

East Ridge will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: The Villages Charter extended their winning streak to three on Monday. The Buffalo walked away with a 7-3 win over Forest.

Emily Thompson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, The Villages Charter got a big performance out of Lexy Sanchez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Sanchez has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Layla Farrish was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, East Ridge was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They fell 5-2 to Winter Springs. The Knights' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Lelia Bolden made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Molly O'Hara also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

The Villages Charter's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for East Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-5.
