Softball Game Preview: Kofa Kings vs. Cibola Raiders

Kofa hasn't had much luck against Cibola recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Kings will welcome the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Last Wednesday, Kofa got the win against Yuma by a conclusive 18-2.

Haley Jones was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Veronica Zazueta was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and two RBI.

Kofa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Cibola made easy work of Westwood on Monday and carried off a 12-3 victory. Considering the Raiders have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Alessandra Martinez tossed a big game, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cibola got a big performance out of Cameron Kasid, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliana Padilla, who went 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

Kofa has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Cibola, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-13.
