Football Game Preview: Springfield Yellow Jackets vs. McGavock Raiders

The Springfield Yellow Jackets will challenge the McGavock Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Springfield was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Liberty Creek on Friday. The Yellow Jackets were the clear victors by a 32-7 margin over the Wolves. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won three contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

Kason Woodson produced another solid performance rushing for 102 yards and a pair of scores on only nine carries, while also throwing for 119 yards and two TDs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Jaidon Hurst was another key player, rushing for 102 yards on only nine carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Springfield was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 345 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty Creek only rushed for 88.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McGavock). They put the hurt on West Creek with a sharp 28-8 win on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Raiders as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Springfield's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for McGavock, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-5.
