It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bernie ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Holcomb Hornets 8-7. The Mules have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hornets, too.

Bernie is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Holcomb, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bernie will face off against Campbell at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Holcomb, they will challenge Twin Rivers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
