Preview: Tri Titans vs. Union County Patriots
Tri is 2-7 against Union County since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tri Titans' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Union County Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Tri focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Saturday.
Last Saturday, Tri earned a 46-39 victory over Knightstown.
Tri can attribute much of their success to Josiah Cox, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds, and Bryant Cornelius, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Cox has scored at least a third of Tri's points. Cole Melton was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Union County pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Eastern Hancock at home by a decisive 75-60 margin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Union County in their matchups with Eastern Hancock: they've now lost seven in a row.
Tri's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Union County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
Everything went Tri's way against Union County when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as Tri made off with a 57-37 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tri since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
