After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Seminole Ridge, Santaluces was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They breezed past the Leonard Lancers to the tune of 64-0. That 64 point margin sets a new team best for the Chiefs this season.

Santaluces got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kelsey Gerald Gerald out in front who rushed for 149 yards, and also picked up 35 receiving yards. Phoenix Taylor also helped out with an impressive 122 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Santaluces was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 267 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 84.7 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five matchups they've averaged 217.3.

The win got Santaluces back to even at 3-3. As for Leonard, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Santaluces and Leonard will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Chiefs see the field they'll take on Park Vista at 6:30 p.m. on the 10th. As for Leonard, their break will end when they face Lake Worth at 6:30 p.m. on the 9th.
