Basketball Game Preview: DeSoto Dragons vs. Hillsboro Hawks

The DeSoto Dragons will challenge the Hillsboro Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Thursday, DeSoto came up short against Windsor and fell 53-44. The loss continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Owls: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Hillsboro unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Thursday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to Festus. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Hawks came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Tigers are ranked 85th).

Hillsboro's defeat ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-2. As for DeSoto, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

DeSoto took a serious blow against Hillsboro when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 71-31. Can DeSoto avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
