Softball Recap: Mt. Carmel's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Mt. Carmel entered their tilt with Oblong on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 17-1 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Golden Aces, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Leah Lewis was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since April 1st. Another player making a difference was Riley Hershey, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Mt. Carmel's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Oblong, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Looking ahead, Mt. Carmel will face off against Richland County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Aces' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Oblong, they will challenge Martinsville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
