Baseball Game Preview: Seymour Owls vs. Beech Grove Hornets

The Seymour Owls will head out to face off against the Beech Grove Hornets at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Beech Grove took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Seymour, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, Seymour earned a 6-1 win over Jennings County.

The team relied heavily on Braden Richey, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Beech Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against New Palestine, falling 11-1.

Beech Grove saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Thacker, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Seymour's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Beech Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.

Seymour took their victory against Beech Grove in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Owls since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
