Volleyball Recap: Montrose Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Rock Canyon

Montrose faced Rock Canyon in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Red Hawks lost 3-0 to the Jaguars.

Despite the defeat, Montrose had strong showings from Amaya Potter, who had 16 digs and two aces, and Reina Contreras, who had eight digs and three assists. Potter is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Leading Rock Canyon to victory were Paige Clapper and Elena Paz. Clapper had seven digs and six aces, while Paz had 13 digs and two assists. Those six aces gave Clapper a new career-high.

Montrose's loss dropped their record down to 20-3. As for Rock Canyon, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 20-3.

As of now, neither Montrose nor the Jaguars have any future games scheduled.
