Recap: Banning Broncos vs. Indio Rajahs
The Banning Broncos''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They suffered a tough 28-6 defeat at the hands of Indio. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Banning in their matchups with Indio: they've now lost three in a row.
Indio was led to victory by Abraham Acuna and Pedro Olmeda. Acuna rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, while Olmeda rushed for 215 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.9 yards per carry. Acuna's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Ken Remigio did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in four field goals.
Banning's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 6.4 points per game. As for Indio, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Banning will head out on the road to face off against Desert Mirage at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Indio, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Coachella Valley at 7:00 p.m. Coachella Valley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
