After a string of four wins, Plainview's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Buckhorn Bucks by a score of 2-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bears of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Plainview started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 25-27, 25-14, 15-8.

Their offense was headlined by Sagan Jackson and Kella McCurdy, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Jada Gray and her 12 assists. McCurdy was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Jordan Stone was the offensive standout of the match as she had 19 digs and one assist. That's the most digs she has posted over her last nine contests.

Plainview's defeat dropped their record down to 26-11. As for Buckhorn, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 29-13.

Plainview and Buckhorn should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. The Bears (ranked 59th) will meet Scottsboro (ranked 274th) at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Buckhorn will challenge Foley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (28 vs. 171).
