Paloma Valley hit Valley View with a six-run sixth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The Eagles have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Cainon Wrisley was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple. Another player making a difference was Deavon Mahoney, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Liberty, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against Lakeside by a score of 12-8 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bison considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Tylor Copeland looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Rowen Baynes was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis De La Riva, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Liberty is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Valley View, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.
