Baseball Recap: Calvert Gets the Win

Calvert came out on top against Seneca East on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Senecas had just enough and edged out the Tigers 7-6. The Senecas have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Landon King looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Calvert's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Charlie Palm, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases. Those stolen bases were Palm's first of the season.

Calvert has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Seneca East, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

Calvert has already played their next game, a 13-4 win against New Riegel on the 14th. As for Seneca East, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-2 victory against Bucyrus on the 14th.
