Softball Recap: Hoover Huskies vs. Logan Wildcats

On Saturday, Hoover faced Logan in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Hoover Huskies walked away with a 9-4 win over the Logan Wildcats. Winning may never get old, but Hoover sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Laila Varney made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Varney has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in 12 consecutive pitching appearances. Varney was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with a triple.

In other batting news, Audrey Canterbury was incredible, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and a stolen base. Bella Haas was another key contributor, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
