Preview: Trotwood-Madison Rams vs. Ponitz Career Tech Golden Panthers
The Trotwood-Madison Rams will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Ponitz Career Tech Golden Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on December 22nd. Trotwood-Madison knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Ponitz Career Tech likes a good challenge.
Last Saturday, Trotwood-Madison got the win against Taft by a conclusive 72-52. Given Trotwood-Madison's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Taft is ranked 294th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Tim Carpenter, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds. Carpenter is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jermiel Atkins was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Ponitz Career Tech's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Withrow 66-29. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Ponitz Career Tech has scored all season.
Trotwood-Madison's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Ponitz Career Tech, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Trotwood-Madison skirted past Ponitz Career Tech 60-58 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Trotwood-Madison since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
