Baseball Recap: Smithton Comes Up Short

Smithton lost against New Franklin back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Tigers lost 13-1 to the Bulldogs.

Smithton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Pond, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base. Pond is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Smithton has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for New Franklin, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Looking ahead, Smithton will take on Cole Camp at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Birds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.18 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for New Franklin, they will face off against Russellville at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
