Basketball Game Preview: St. Mary Catholic Central Falcons/Kestrels vs. Riverview Pirates

St. Mary Catholic Central and Riverview are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The St. Mary Catholic Central Falcons/Kestrels will venture away from home to face off against the Riverview Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. Mary Catholic Central comes in on seven and Riverview on six.

Last Friday, St. Mary Catholic Central blew past Grosse Ile, posting a 73-44 victory. The Falcons/Kestrels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverview). They took down Airport 78-63 on Friday. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while the Jets are ranked 634th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Riverview has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points per game. As for St. Mary Catholic Central, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.

St. Mary Catholic Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Riverview when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 61-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Mary Catholic Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
