Basketball Game Preview: Cinco Ranch Cougars vs. Katy Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Cinco Ranch Cougars face off against the Katy Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday... Cinco Ranch will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Cinco Ranch will bounce into Friday's match after beating Seven Lakes, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Everything went Cinco Ranch's way against Seven Lakes on Tuesday as Cinco Ranch made off with a 61-35 victory. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Aniya' Foy was her usual excellent self, going 10 of 18 en route to 26 points and five steals. Her evening made it 45 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keeana Hickman, who posted seven points along with three steals and three blocks.

Cinco Ranch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Katy beat Morton Ranch 60-48 on Tuesday. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while the Mavericks are ranked 901st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Katy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-10. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Cinco Ranch, they have been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Cinco Ranch was able to grind out a solid victory over Katy when the teams last played back in November of 2024, winning 57-48. Does Cinco Ranch have another victory up their sleeve, or will Katy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
