Basketball Game Preview: Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions vs. Downtown Doral Dolphins

The Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Downtown Doral Dolphins at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Monday, Immaculata-La Salle had to suffer through a 80-46 loss at the hands of Dade Christian. While losing is never fun, the Royal Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 535th, while the Warriors are ranked 176th).

Meanwhile, Downtown Doral lost to Mater Brickell Academy on the road by a 68-54 margin back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Downtown Doral saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Samuel Salas went 10 for 21 on his way to 25 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Salas a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Castro, who posted 13 points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Downtown Doral was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mater Brickell Academy only racked up eight assists.

Immaculata-La Salle has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Downtown Doral, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4.

Immaculata-La Salle came up short against Downtown Doral when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 61-52. Can Immaculata-La Salle avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
