Basketball Recap: Maloney Comes Up Short

Maloney was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 49-25 to the Newington Nor'easters. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Nor'easters are ranked 28th).

Kendall Miller was her usual excellent self, going 6 for 8 on her way to 14 points along with seven boards and four steals for Newington. The team also got some help courtesy of Hope Romanello, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.

Maloney's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Newington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maloney has already played their next matchup (against Plainville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Newington will challenge New Britain at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
