Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ricktia Davis and Morvia Stephenson Lead Piper to Victory

Piper got themselves on the board against Chaminade-Madonna on Wednesday, but Chaminade-Madonna never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 20-0 victory. Considering the Bengals have won five matches by more than 19 points this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

A big part of Piper's win came down to the chemistry between Ricktia Davis and her top target Morvia Stephenson. Davis threw for 88 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Stephenson picked up 71 receiving yards and two scores. Those 71 receiving yards gave Stephenson a new career-high. J' Alliyah Shorter made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Piper didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Shorter, Kezandean Green, and D' Yanni McDowell picked up one apiece. Shorter got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Piper has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.3 points on average over those games. As for Chaminade-Madonna, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.

Piper has already played their next contest, a 20-6 win against Plantation on the 3rd. As for Chaminade-Madonna, they will host Everglades at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
