Baseball Recap: Easley Takes a Loss

Easley fell victim to Travelers Rest and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Devildogs by a score of 2-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Green Wave's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Easley got a good showing from Walker Cox, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. What's more, Cox gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Easley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trey Kicklighter, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Easley dropped their record down to 11-12 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Travelers Rest, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-15.

Looking ahead, Easley will square off against Belton-Honea Path at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Green Wave surely won't give up without a fight. As for Travelers Rest, they will challenge Pickens at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Devildogs are facing the Blue Flame at the right time seeing as the Blue Flame are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
