Softball Game Preview: Mountainside Mavericks vs. McDaniel Mountain Lions

The Mountainside Mavericks are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will square off against the McDaniel Mountain Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Mountainside is leaving town to face McDaniel after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Mountainside took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of McNary on Wednesday.

Sasha Stratton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Kawaguchi, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, McDaniel started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Oregon City. They fell 8-3 to the Pioneers on Thursday.

Izzy Hale put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Hale was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Tiffany Jordan was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
