Preview: General McLane Lancers vs. Hickory Hornets
The General McLane Lancers will head out on the road to face off against the Hickory Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with General McLane sitting on three straight wins and Hickory on four.
General McLane put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 48-7 victory over Warren. With General McLane ahead 28-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Magnus Lloyd was on fire: he rushed for 213 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Isaac Zietz, who threw for 135 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes.
Meanwhile, Hickory was able to grind out a solid victory over Sharpsville two weeks ago, taking the game 28-18.
Among those leading the charge was Zander Telesz, who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 123 yards and a touchdown on only seven passes. Telesz was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 51 yards. Hickory also got help from Luke Nevil who showed off his sure hands for 82 receiving yards.
General McLane's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Hickory, their win was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-2.
General McLane came up short against Hickory in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, falling 33-28. Thankfully for General McLane, Logan Woods (who threw for 276 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
