Baseball Recap: Blackstone-Millville Chargers vs. Nipmuc Regional Warriors
Blackstone-Millville had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-13 to make it 11. They came up short against the Nipmuc Regional Warriors, falling 14-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-0 back in April.
Blackstone-Millville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cody Fletcher, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Nipmuc Regional, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by seven runs or more this season.
On Nipmuc Regional's side, Josh Giancola made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Giancola was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Nipmuc Regional got a massive performance out of Adam Dubowik, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Dubowik a new career-high. Alex Varney was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Blackstone-Millville has already played their next game, a 4-2 victory against Sutton on the 12th. As for Nipmuc Regional, they will head out on the road to take on Hopedale at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
