Baseball Recap: New Smyrna Beach Comes Up Short

New Smyrna Beach suffered their closest defeat since March 7, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Spruce Creek Hawks by a score of 8-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-0 back in February.

New Smyrna Beach saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Teague Carosella, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Hunter Motolla was another, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

New Smyrna Beach's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Spruce Creek, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-2.

New Smyrna Beach didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-1 victory against Atlantic on the 3rd. As for Spruce Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-2 win against Seabreeze on the 3rd.
