Baseball Recap: Providence Takes a Loss

Providence started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against New Roads. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the New Roads Jaguars on Tuesday. The Pioneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.

Eric Chuchvara made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jason Carrillo, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Providence and nudges their season record down to 4-4. As for New Roads, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Looking ahead, Providence will head out to take on Valley Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Providence's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Valley Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for New Roads, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 13-3 defeat against Muir on the 19th.
