Soccer Game Preview: Surry County vs. Franklin

The Surry County Cougars will square off against the Franklin Broncos at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Surry County's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Surry County turned things around against Appomattox Regional Governor's Arts & Tech on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Dragons a 1-0 shutout.

Meanwhile, Franklin and Southampton combined for 13 shots on goal two weeks ago, which explains the impressive five total goals scored. The Broncos fell just short of the Indians by a score of 3-2. The loss continues a trend for Franklin in their meetings with Southampton: they've now lost seven in a row.

Benjamin Harrison and Osman Munoz scored both of Franklin's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Franklin's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Surry County, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
